Günay Shamsi loves experimenting, both in painting and in sculpture, there are no limits for her, and everything is and should be allowed. But the artistic focus is always on the aesthetics and a certain beauty. Although Günay has usually already the finished picture in her mind, she particularly enjoys the process of creating forms, movements of the lines, burning of different colors, different shades, soft transfusions of the mysterious chiaroscuro, because in her point of view that’s the way how one’s creats his/ her own reality, which can differ from the imagined one.
Günay is firm in many genres and she is especially known for realistic paintings and extremely accurate reproduction. However, inspired by her sculpture studies in Berlin, she has increasingly turned into plasticity and in recent years has been very interested creating artwork in pop surrealism style.
